Earth Day Message2 min read

Birds and butterflies
float through the air

living each day
without a care.

This is said,
but is it true?

Can they survive
and not feel blue?

As rivers shrink,
temperatures rise.

Humans evolve
while animals demise.

We share Mother Earth
and all of her treasures

so each living thing
has simple pleasures

like a cozy home
and food to eat.

We must share our water
so they don’t overheat.

Each living thing,
every snail and slug,

gets its needs from the Earth
like a great big hug.

So please be mindful
of the actions you take

so glaciers don’t melt
and cities don’t bake.

We must use our voice
to do what is right

for the animals can’t
speak up and fight.

Think of our future
and those who we love.

Our planet sustains us,
below ground and above.

Make sure to recycle
and buy fewer things

so we live happily
with all living beings.

Eat food that is local
and go plant some trees.

Help neighborhoods blossom,
provide food for the bees.

Choose to walk to the park
instead of driving a truck

and please pick up your trash
so oceans aren’t filled with muck.

On every continent
to the depths of the seas,

animals and humans
can live peacefully.

From the largest whales
to the community cat

must share our resources
so everyone can adapt.

The air that we breathe
is one in the same

but when our wind is polluted
it’s the humans we’ll blame.

So please ask yourself
what you can actually do

to make sure our skies
and oceans stay blue.
